— ABOUT THE FOUNDER

From the Research Bench to the Boardroom

Over 15 years navigating the intersection of drug development, business strategy, and venture capital — across three continents and every stage of the therapeutic lifecycle.

Paola Torre, PhD

BioIntegrity Advisory was founded by Dr. Paola Torre, a scientist turned strategist with over 15 years navigating the intersection of drug development, business strategy, and venture capital. Her career spans bench science at world-class institutions — UCSF, UPenn, NYU — to leading cross-functional teams at BioMarin Pharmaceuticals, where she drove pipeline expansion and secured licensing opportunities in cardiovascular, neurometabolic, and gene therapy programs.

Today, Paola serves as Venture Partner at Aquillius Ventures, Board Member at Life Science Angels, and Technical consultant to Singapore's A*STAR Nucleic Acids Therapeutics Initiative. She brings a rare combination of deep scientific literacy, investment acumen, and operational execution to every engagement.

I have evaluated hundreds of companies across gene therapy, RNA therapeutics, and metabolic disease, helped close multi-million dollar investment rounds, and built a reputation as a trusted advisor to founders and investors alike — across four continents.

Prior to her advisory work, Paola led a cross-functional team of 9 at BioMarin to investigate Voxzogo for cardiovascular and muscular diseases, launched a licensing opportunity in the neurometabolic space that added a new pipeline program, and established strategic sponsored research agreements with academic labs and CROs. She also served as Head of Innovation for Life Science Programs at INNOVIT, where she designed and ran a 2-week innovation boot camp, created 30+ workshops, and hosted a 200-person demo day for Bay Area biotech professionals.

Paola was selected as a Wharton Mack Technology Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, was a UCSF Catalyst Intern, and holds a PhD in Biomolecular Sciences from the University of Trento, Italy.
